Top 5 London Markets to Visit

When it comes to markets, Londoners and visitors are spoilt with choice. You can find everything from tasty food, beautiful flowers, vintage clothes and art to hand crafted items. I love exploring London’s markets because there’s always something to see. It’s also a great place to get my hands on antiques, trendy clothes and art. Here are my Top 5 favourite markets in London:

Camden Market

Camden Market clothes stalls

Camden market is situated in North London and is open every day. It is divided in several markets along Camden High Street. The open-air and indoor market has alternative fashion, arts and crafts, vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories. It’s also a great place to grab some food at one of the many international food stalls. During the summer you can also relax by the canal or stroll along Camden’s HighStreet.

Portobello Market

Portobello market art shop

This market is located in west London and is well known as a filming location including ‘Notting Hill’ with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. The busiest day is Saturday with over hundreds of antiques and fashion stores, fruit and food stalls open. Even though it’s a bit pricier than other markets Portobello Road is one of my favourites because of its cute cafes, bars and pubs as well as little art shops.

Borough Market

Borough market entrance

This is the perfect market for foodies – it offers a wide range of international food, fresh vegetables and fruits, bread, and delicious cakes. The market is easy to reach via London Bridge station and is open every day except Sundays. Check for opening hours here.

Brick Lane Market

Brick lane alternative store

You can find almost everything at this East London market. Easily to reach through Liverpool street station you can get tasty cheap food, vintage dresses, handmade jewelry and sunglasses in any colour. Make sure to go on a Sunday between 9am – 5pm otherwise you’ll find empty stalls. My Tip: Go off the main road to get to see walls covered with arty graffitis.

Old Spitalfields Market

indoor spitalfields market

If you go to Brick Lane market you should definitely head over to Spitalfields market too. Open from Monday to Friday and Sunday the indoor market offers a wide range of crafts, arts, vintage, clothes and food stalls. My Tip: Look out for delicious fresh cookies.
