There are lots of ways to spend your holiday – you could enjoy a weekend in Disneyland Paris or go to a clubbing island with friends. If you’re into sports, a sporting holiday might be the right thing for you. But let’s be honest, this would be more of a usual holiday and I’m all about once in a lifetime experiences. Below are 4 destinations that are currently on top of my bucket list:
1. Venice
You’ll hear some people saying Venice is overrated, and I’d agree, if there was anywhere else in the world quite like it. There isn’t. There is no other city in the world where you travel around by water on a gondola. It is an incredibly romantic experience. Once you’re there, you’ll love getting lost in the waterways, perhaps for hours on end while you stare up at the city passing you by. Then, hop off and find one of the city’s treasured afternoon restaurants for a spot of lunch. The other thing to remember about Venice is that it’s not going to be there forever. It’s actually sinking and rather rapidly. So I’m planning to go sooner rather than later.
2. Buenos Aires
The birthplace of the Tango and Evita, this gem in Argentina is definitely a city you should plan to visit. If not to learn to Tango, then to see the presidential palace where the story you think you know occurred. Buenos Aires also has some incredible surrounding nature where you can stay in beautiful hotels such as the Pilar hotel Argentina just outside Buenos Aires. Then once you have explored all the sights In the city, explore the rest of the country. Travel to one of the only places in the world where you can see a glacier travelling across the land. Or, visit Iguazu falls where you won’t believe your eyes as you are surrounded by some of the biggest waterfalls in the world.
3. See The Northern Lights
The Northern Lights have been seen in many countries around the world. But, for the best viewing experience you must travel to the arctic region in the middle of the winter. While the chill is tough, the sight alone is worth the trip. Many people have described seeing this wonder of nature as a spiritual journey. Is there something magical about this phenomena? Perhaps not, but the only way to know for sure is to experience it for yourself in all its glory. I’m hoping to see them in Iceland, I just have to book my flights now.
4. Galapagos Islands
These islands are world renowned for being the best place in the world to see wildlife. So, if you love animals (like me), there is nowhere else that should be higher up your wish list. As soon as you start to explore, you’ll be greeted by friendly, curious little things. These animals have never seen the cruelty of humans and have absolutely no reason to fear travellers who take a trip to this incredible place.
You should definitely add at least one of these experiences to your bucket list. The world is full of exciting possibilities. But if you don’t explore you’ll never find them.
