If you’re planning on taking a big trip this year, you have a lot to think about. Not only will you need to plan your travel and itinerary, you’ll need to find the perfect hotel. Finding the right hotel is a big deal, as it can make a massive difference to your trip. Even if you don’t plan on spending a lot of time in your hotel, it’s a good idea to think this through carefully. Here’s my guide to finding the perfect hotel to give you a hand!
1. Read Reviews
Reviews are my favourite thing in the world. There’s a review on almost any hotel you can think of, so you’re sure to find some really valuable advice you can use when making your selection. Bear in mind that a good review is brilliant because it means the person had such a great time that they could actually be bothered to take time out of their day and write the review. A bad review usually comes from an experience that was so bad and left the person so disgruntled that they had to share. You won’t ever get completely good or completely bad, so you’ll need to weigh up the pros and cons for yourself.
2. Test the Customer Service
If you think you might like to stay at a hotel, don’t hesitate to test the customer service. You can do this by emailing or calling and see how they interact with you, and how long it takes them to respond. You should get a good idea for how well they value their customers by doing this!
3. Look at Pictures
Pictures aren’t always a great representation of a place. They usually look better than they are in real life when it comes to hotels, so bear that in mind. A hotel that looks clean with freshly made hotel bedding is a good place to start.
4. Features
What features do you need in your hotel? Consider writing a list of things you can’t compromise on, and other things that would be nice but aren’t essential. You should then find it easier to narrow down your list of hotels going on what you need. You’ll need to make sure there’s enough room to unpack all of your stuff and prepare for your travels, as well as wash facilities, etc.
5. Use Comparison Sites
Comparison sites are godsend for people who want to save money. Price shouldn’t really be your main concern, as going for the cheapest hotel can end in disaster if you don’t take the rest of the steps first. However, if you know your budget and use sites like this, you could end up with a great deal and the best hotel.
Unfortunately, you won’t know much else until you turn up at the hotel. If you’ve used the rest of the info in this guide, you should at least end up with somewhere half decent. Asking for recommendations from people you know is another good way of finding somewhere to stay. Have a great trip!
